Japan Adventure Tours - Destination Japan & Beyond

Summit of Mt Fuji - Hiking.jpgDestination Japan & Beyond is pleased to offer adventure packages for active travellers seeking the ultimate adventure with a cultural twist.

We can still take you to hidden valleys where the madding crowds have not yet arrived. Japan’s powder snow skiing is legendary for its lightness and consistency. In Hokkaido, whether you are after back country powder skiing or lift assisted powder skiing, you will find a place where you will ski powder snow, period.

For those looking for a cycle holiday our popular Cycle Hokkaido tour has been re-launched with an itinerary that takes you to the best of this island's natural beauty, including the world heritage area of the Shiretoko Peninsula. This cycle Japan tour will leave you sated by the wide smooth roads with very little traffic, the splash of northern wildness, hot spring baths and true cultural insight into Japan.

Our Shikoku cycle ride is the best cycle touring Japan has to offer. Discover for yourself the old samurai roads that still wind through ancient villages on cherry blossom covered hillsides.

Our hiking Japan tour takes you to Japan’s most iconic mountain, Mt. Fuji, followed by an exploration of the wild mountains of Daisetsusan National Park in central Hokkaido.

These journeys are woven together with a tapestry of delicious including traditional food, Japanese Inns redolent of ancient times and muscle mending hot spring baths that will leave you ready to sink into your futon at the end of the evening. A bilingual experienced escort completes the picture on all tours.

bigstockphoto_Hiking_Boots_1.jpgDue to the altitude of Mt. Fuji (3775M) we rate this walking trip as strenuous. In regards to pack weights, on Mt. Fuji you will be require to carry the following essentials with you, such as clothing for cold weather, torch, first aid items and any other items you may wish to carry, basically a big day pack.

Your extra luggage will be stored in lockers at Kawaguchi Ko Station while on Mt. Fuji.

While hiking in Hokkaido, your luggage will travel by transport to the next nights accommodation ad you will carry only a day pack.

JAPAN CYCLING TOURS - FITNESS

bigstockphoto_Wheel_1.jpgThese tours are designed for regular cyclists as there are some solid days in the saddle. The routes have several climbs and some long descents. If you ride weekly including some long rides of between 80-100km thrown in, you will enjoy these rides like no other.

For those who are fit but are new to cycling, we recommend a two month training program prior to your departure including some weekend rides of up to 100km.

Many people have joined our rides over the years and have not done a lot of cycling however they have had the right attitude (give it a go!) and have been aware that there are some huge days, and they have enjoyed the rides immensely. It is a little subjective so again please look at the itineraries, talk to cycling friends and please do not hesitate to contact us directly for additional information.
